7ft Thunder The Heavy Weight Champion

Print E-mail
Thursday, 13 December 2007

This wrestling match vs Marc Mercedes the then current IWA Heavy Weight Champion and myself, 7ft Thunder was for the title in a serious way.

Due to previous tricks by Mercedes, such as getting disqualifies on purpose to stop the match had allowed him to keep his title for years. Now the IWA President placed him in a match with me in a no disqualification match (no DQ).

This meant that no matter what happened in or out of the wrestling ring there was only going to be one winner that took the belt, no tricks, no disqualifications, no excuses...

Title Match vs Club Mercedes

Print E-mail
Thursday, 06 December 2007

Marc Mercedes was expanding his 'popularity' by enlisting others into his exclusive Club Mercedes, in this match Curtis "Manager Of The Year" Hughes and Percy "The Nerd" Sludge help Mercedes in his match.

This was one of the smallest audiences I think we ever wrestled in front of, as you can see mid match Mercedes goes and sits with some people in the 'front row' while his minders look after him.

This match is the preview to the next match - to be seen next week where Thunder challenges Mercedes to a no holds barred, no disqualification match - meaning that no matter what happens the Heavy Weight Title is on the line, no more tricks from Mercedes...

7ft Thunder Wrestling Gothic Knight

Print E-mail
Thursday, 29 November 2007

Gothic Knight was a wrestler from Canada who came over for the tour that I put off my trip to the US to knock on the WCW door (again). Anyone who is an avid reader of my site will recognise this as the last wrestling tour I did before I got nerve damage which effectively ended my wrestling career.

Gothic Knight was the biggest guy that I had ever wrestled to that point and it was a new experience for me to be thrown around the ring, instead of vice versa.

All in all it was a good match with a huge crowd up in Newcatle and we got a very good reception from the fans.

Thunder and Vulkan vs Mercedes And Swan

Print E-mail
Thursday, 22 November 2007

Vulkan and Mercedes are having a match, Vulkan is winning, then Stephen Swan comes out to help the Burger Eating Bully Marc Mercedes by intereferring with the match.

Things aren't going well for the crowd favourite Vulkan and the screams and cries of small children rouses the giant from backstage to take an active role....

Well that's the story, then you'll have to watch the rest of the video to see the outcome...

7ft Thunder Wrestles Stephen Swan

Friday, 16 November 2007

A match that went way over time when Mr Swan would not follow the rules of wrestling, the match was too long and was not getting a good response from the audience.

Also using the exact same 'cut off' move 3 times in a row in the one match was a bit much. Towards the end you can see that i am not having a good match with Swan and it gets a little nasty.

Swan and I never wrestled together again, and I do not think we ever talked again, though I believe he talked a lot about me afterwards, who cares. He even tried to get my finishing move banned as he sustained massive bruising around the neck and sever pain.

Watch the end of the match, esp the boot to the stomach as the set up and the "Thunder Bomb" where Swan drops all his weight like a sack of potatoes in an attempt to twart the finish. I was surprised he did not believe me when I said to him "I'll take you up anyway"...

7ft Thunder Wrestling Phil Picaso

Print E-mail
Thursday, 08 November 2007

Wrestling "The Italian Bodyguard" Big Phil Picaso. Whereas Phil was a big guy compared to normal people, he does not look so big as compared to Thunder - as is impressively displayed in this 'pose off' followed by a 'test of strength' pro-wrestling style.

I believe this was only Phils 2nd or 3rd individual match so you can see the match is a bit messy - or as Phil calls it a "Good 'ole bit of Aussie biffo!"

On a side note Phil was a bit of a tough bugger, shortly after this match he was hit by a car travelling at 60 kph (37 mph) bounced off, was thrown quiet a ways down the road where he took a bump, rolled with it got up then wrestled 4 days later. Those who knew him tended to call him Mad Phil Picaso.

Phils random brawling style became a huge hit with the fans and mainly the kids, which surprised many critics, promoters and even us wrestlers...

7ft Thunder Wrestling Gregory Von Stekker (again)

Print E-mail
Friday, 02 November 2007

Again wrestling Stekker. This video is one of the best I have available as we were wrestling under full house lights in an indoor sporting arena, not the best for wrestling conditions but good for clear video tapings.

I was at my muscular biggest at this point with peroxide blonde hair and still wrestling as the good guy ('babyface') 7ft Thunder, though this match was the start of the turning point to my switch to a 'heel' (bad guy).

These days there does not seem to be the classical good vs bad guy matches like there used to be, but I suppose that was all part of hte cold war era thinking of us vs them.

Enjoy the match, this is one of hte best wrestling videos I have...

7 vs Mark Hilton Wrestling

Print E-mail
Friday, 02 November 2007

This was my last wrestling match in Australia before I left on my trip to Europe. Upon my return I did not get back into wrestling and retired from it.... until.... my Oct 2007 return to Australia when I did 2 more shows with AWF Wrestling to get some new footage for future self promotions and my showreel.

This wrestling match vs Mark Hilton is unfortunately from a fair distance and with the .flv (flash video) codec it makes it hard to follow, as does the goose of a camera operator going out of focus every 2 minutes.

This one will be for die hard '7' fans only

There has been an update to the video subscription software and it is misbehaving badly (actually it has always been misbehaving) - I will get a few days free next week when I will fix this and add a ton of videos.

I will email everyone affected personally. Apologies for the inconvenience.

7ft Thunder Interview

Print E-mail
Sunday, 14 October 2007

Here is an interview when I was wrestling as 7ft Thunder, Marc Mercedes rudely interupted and Thunder gets angry.

Well that was the story line but I did not really understand why I was getting angry but I followed the storyline.

This is probably a little boring unless you are a hard core Thunder fan (anyone?). Either way it is up and you can watch it if you please...

7ft Thunder vs Gregory Von Stekker

Saturday, 15 September 2007

7ft Thunder vs Gregory Von Stekker, great grandson of the famous Adolf Von Stekker inventor of the Stekkerplex that was handed down through generations of wrestling Stekkers - or so the story went.

Actually Greg had lived and trained at the Malenko School of wrestling in Florida and lived and trained in Japan for a year, he was one of the most, if not the most talented technical wrestler on the Australian circuit.

The Unresponsive Crowd

7ft Thunder Wrestles Gregory Von Stekker

This is one of the earliest tapes I have, it was shot on a VHS handy cam obviously from a non stationary point. This was just after I returned from my first trip to see WWF in Connecticut and WCW in Atlanta and I was very hopeful of getting a WCW training contract.

7ft Thunder vs ZZ Hook (Big vs Small Wrestler)

Print E-mail
Friday, 14 September 2007

The full match at the roundhouse between myself - 7ft Thunder and the smallest wrestler in the IWA - ZZ Hook, that is the smallest man with the biggest mouth, and a huge heart to match.

Wrestling vs ZZHook

Classic Big vs Small wrestling match.

In this match you can clearly see my left hand side is pretty big still but the right side has atrophied after the nerve damage I suffered just months earlier, t this stage I was still trying to battle my way through the pain and keep as much size on - I had not given up.

In this match as stated in the roundhouse article and video we are performing for a bunch of beer fuelled enthusiastic University students so the language may be offensive to some, but it is all in good fun...

IWA Wrestling At The Roundhouse

Print E-mail
Thursday, 23 August 2007

The Roundhouse at the University of NSW, this was one of the best places to wrestle for several reasons:

  1. Lighting and sound systems were of professional quality - this added to the show significantly
  2. University students were the main crowd, they were always loud and ready to get involved - crowd participation was at a high
  3. Being a mature audience we could swear and make sexual references in our trash talking
  4. Alcohol was served and drunk in copious amounts, adding to the crowd participation.

So a bunch of drunken, roundy University students who knew it was a show and were there purely to enjoy the entertainment made for a good crowd.

Filmed and broadcast on V-TV in Australia (music video TV).

Watch for my response to the rather surprising question that the female reporter asked - I liked my response though it is apparent that she did not - she did not talk to me again from then on.

Cool fine by me, ask a stupid question on national TV, get a ......

IWA Sydney Easter Show

Print E-mail
Thursday, 23 August 2007

This was one of my first performances with the IWA (actually I think it was my first), I think this was the 1998 Easter Show held at hte Sydney Showgrounds (now Fox Studios).

With a million of more people making their way to the Easter Show we had massive numbers of people stopping by to watch the wrestling - we were a hit wit hall age groups.

This is a collection of hte introductions as the various wrestlers entered the ring area.

IWA On Recovery TV Australian ABC

Print E-mail
Thursday, 23 August 2007

IWA wrestling promoters Tyrone Townsend and Marc Mercedes were always chasing media coverage, somewhat successfully.

This was the first time many of the wrestlers had been on TV and even for me it was a big kick - we had gotten wrestling back on TV, even if only a short segment after a break of 15 to 20 years of nothing.

Recovery was a 4 hour long saturday morning program aimed at teenagers and young adults, mainly concentrating on music but with a lot of lifestyle and other interesting things thrown in.

Here's the clip....

Wrestling: Seven and TNT vs Everyone

Print E-mail
Thursday, 23 August 2007

This is one of the last matches I did before leaving Australia in 2004 to go on my 3 month European Holiday. When I returned from Europe I think I did just one more match in 2005 before I quit my business and moved to Thailand.

I believe this match starts out with me as Seven vs Mark Hilton but at the end it gets a little more involved.

TNT is the AWF federation co-founder and director and currently the heavy weight champion, long time bad guy and good friend and also my wrestling partner after I turned bad (well my wrestling persona anyway - my mother would argue that I was always bad).

This is a long match and is in two parts, watch the first clip through and then the second part is ready to play directly beneath it...

7ft Thunder Wrestling Bumps Montage

Print E-mail
Thursday, 23 August 2007

This is a selection of bumps, hits and slams mostly from my earlier days as a wrestler.

I originally cut these from early VHS recordings of my matches as 7ft Thunder so the quality is lacking a little, the cuts I have kept for inclusion in my next showreel.

This clip I threw this together due to the number of requests from people to see my early wrestling matches, all these matches will be uploaded in full in this section over time, with a 2nd DVD on it's way from Australia any time soon.
