DUCKS GUTS: An Australian expression - if you think something is awesome, brilliant etc. then it is said to be the duck's guts. - source The Urban Dictionary So when you hear an Australian saying "This is the ducks guts" then they are generally referring to something as being first class, or the best in its class. Or they might just be an Australian living in Asia and actually be referring to something totally different....
Like they might actually be referring to the literal meaning of the phrase.... As in "This is the Ducks Guts":

A rather tasty, if not burningly hot dish from the North Eastern Issarn region of Thailand where you will find many other strange and wonderful , and usually very, very hot chilli dishes. For example how many other places in the world could you politely say "Pohm kin fuck wanee". Problem is it is very hard to mince duck gut by hand so you end up with big bits of recognisable intestinal tract and various other internal organs staring up at you in culinary defiance. The first time I ate buffalo innard soup in Laos it was very hard for me mentally to get it down, but seeing as I could not find any other food to eat I perservered and now can eat congealed blood and internal organs and with the best of them - well except for the sheep uterus.... To give you an idea of 'hot': If you think you have ever eaten a hot curry before in comparision many Issarn dishes would make your 'hot' curry seem more like eating ice cream. This stuff is seriously hot with even regular consumers (locals) fanning thier mouths, panting heavily, sweating profusely and sipping ice cold water between every bite. For me my tear ducts and sinuses start their impersonation of Niagra falls, often mistaken for crying. Several times an unkown passerby has stopped to ask me what is wrong, am I ok? (which just goes to show how nice the average Thai person is). Only to laugh when I tell them I'm ok but the food is very, very spicy. But you must never confuse Ducks Guts with other similar dishes: 
Chinese Menu: Chicken Gizzards or Dog Meat And who could forget the unforgettable Special Fried Rice With Meaty Crap? Ahhh, yes Asian cuisine really is the ducks guts!
