Several weeks ago I went to Pattaya with some friends from England to show them around and get them into trouble by introducing them to friends of mine who live down there.
We took a few photos and shot a bit of video on a mates digital camera as a test run for future projects, I have gone and used the footage, limited though it was to learn video editting which I have now got my head around and I present my first project.
There will be more of these 'lifestyle' projects as I have started taking photos and video for my next one - Conan in Sydney.
Listen carefully for Marks comment at the end "But she's a boy isn't she?"

When all the world leaders turned a blind eye to Pol Pot and his atrocities in Cambodia there was one group speaking out - US Punk Band the "Dead Kennedys", also known as DK.
US and China were both suppling weapons to Pol Pot and his genocidal Khmer Rouge Regime, I believe Russia and Vietnam were supporting the 'rebels' - the traditional Royal Family and the Democratic party - how ironic.
This is the music clip from the Dead Kennedys that was my first introduction to political science as in most of hte songs from DK there was a message and a point ot it.
Congratulations to a young group of punks for saying what national governments were afraid to say.

Just a couple of local DJ's going off at a party. I am constantly amazed at the quality of musicians in Asia, the mixes, the songs, the cover bands - everythign is exceptional for small locally based guys.
MTV was here again and I got a brief bit of screen time

Live music is definitely alive and kicking in Thailand, in every town you will find at least one venue that has it's local bands playing a mix of western and local covers as well as originals.
The reason I filmed this was not due to the quality of hte music but for hte fact that the lead singer was dressed and dancing more like a stripper back home - but she was better looking and talented.
Have a look for yourself...

Elephants are synonymous with Thailand, it's history and it's culture.
In many tourist areas you see signs up for "Elephant Trecking" whereby tourists are loaded onto an Elephant and walked through the jungle for the next hour.
A close friend was wanting to come to Thailand and bring his young children and they, of course, wanted to see Elephants - my frind Scott was planning to fly internally to Surin in the countryside as this area has a well deserved reputation for lots of Elephants.
He did not believe me that Elephants are everywhere so I shot this short video of an Elephant in Bangkok. Look closely at its rear end and you will see a litteral "tail" light as required by law when Elephants are about on the streets at night time.

At the Bangkok Dangerous (Big Hit in Bangkok) movie wrap party we were treated to a magic show then a cabaret show, funnily a friend had an old friend from America visiting Thailand for hte first time along for hte party.
I was talking to him when he suddenly excused himself - I want to see the show - funnily he had not shown any interest in seeing the magic show but a dozen showgirls in g-string bikinis and he suddenly went all appreciative of the arts.
So we let him drool all over the girls for about 30 minutes before we told him they were ladyboys (cross-dressers) - but he would not believe me.... ohhh well...

Europe October 2004 - I was staying in Paris with some friends Anthony and Vincent - to be honest I was staying at Vincents 1/2 renovated apartment located in the heart of Paris, which was fabulous.
October in Europe, I had already travelled to Brussels, Amsterdam and Madrid - what next?
Ever since I was the University Of Newcastle where I acquired my drinking habits and the drinking record I have wanted to go to the real Oktoberfest in Germany and not the weak marketing exercises staged by pubs and hotels in Australia.
So here I was in France just a short 4 hour drive away to the greatest beer party in the world. Upon speaking with Vincent about my plans to go he turned to me and said "People sit at tables drinking beer for 3 days straight - do you really want to go and meet girls like that? Or would you like to come to Techno Parade in Paris?"
Techno Parade? What is that? Techno Parade in Paris is 1 million people partying, dancing and having a good time through a long winding trip through the main streets of Paris accompanied by mobile discos blaring out loud techno music.
Take a look....
