One thing I keep hearing from people time and again is How do I get motivated, how do I keep upbeat, how do I keep my energy?

The first thing you need to do is give yourself a good start to the day, each and every day:

"People often say that motivation doesn't last. Well neither does bathing. That's why we recommend it daily." - Zig Ziglar

5 Things To Do To Guarantee A Good Start To The Day

1. BREAKFAST

So many people skip breakfast as they  think it is not important, thye are fat, lazy, require coffee to even get moving.

EAT YOUR BREAKFAST. Eat a decent healthy breakfast.

You have not eaten for 8 hours your body is literally starving, it needs food. Start with a piece of fruit or two then have your morning shower this will get your digestive system going, and ready for the next course.

Eat something sustaining, sugar coated processed wheat or ice is not on the list. I prefer oatmeal and some scrambled eggs. This gives me fibre, long lasting carbs and a good source of protein. Best of all it is easy to eat.

2. POSITIVE THOUGHTS, DREAM BUILDING, AFFIRMATIONS

Spend 5 minutes in the morning thinking about the life you are going to have, the places you are going to be and how you will feel when you are successful. Alternatively say your affirmations that these things are coming, try to convince your mind through repitition that they are coming.

Do this while you are in the shower or on the bog - incorporate it into some time that you are physically active but mentally still.

My friend Pete used to tape the newspaper to the outside of hte glass shower so he could read the headlines while he showered - you can do the same with your affirmations.

3. READ A POSITIVE BOOK FOR 30 MINUTES

Read for 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes at night and you will get the equivalent of a University (College) education in a year.

30 minutes of inspirational reading, a biography of a successful person for instance, will fire you up and give you a nice lift in the morning.

Reading something educational will mean you are improving yourself, it will run through your mind for the rest of hte day and it will become a part of you. Over time this changes the way you think, and the answer (and questions!) you have.

Spend some time growing mentally each day

4. EXERCISE

40 minutes of exercise each morning will get your blood pumping and wake you up, it will also give you an appetite for breakfast and you will burn more fat in the morning.

If you can start the day with an endorphine rush you are going to feel good no two ways about it, the chemicals are there in your system. (Endorphines are naturally released Ecstasy chemicals (also known as runners high))

5.  SMILE

Seriously look in the mirror and put a smile on your face, pretend if you have to you will find that after 5 minutes you will actually feel happier. (This is due to an NLP response called anchoring).

With a big smile on your face see how different people react to you when they meet you that day. People will be friendlier, more talkative and easier to approach.

Put on a friendly face and people will find you more open and respond in kind.

People being friendly would help your day start off right wouldn't it?

So there we go, 5 simple common sense rules to get your day off to a good start - get to it.
