Peanut butter and bodybuilding, what am I talking about?
Well there is this myth going around some bodybuilding circles that peanut butter is some new miracle food for growing muscle. Why? Rumours and misguided attempts to eat the right bodybuilding foods.
Peanut butter is good for bodybuilding in certain circumstances, in other circumstances it is a terribly bad choice...

For the last six weeks or so I have been training with a shoulder injury.
The injury started as a slight nagging pain after training chest or shoulders, so I backed off on the weight and concentrated on getting my form perfect with slow reps and a light weight. Then we caught the armed bandit at our apartment and I really put it out.
So since then what have I been doing to train around my shoulder injury?

Alright after much delay and much sidestepping the issue I grabbed my phone out of my pocket after training today and asked a fellow that I have never seen before to take a few photos outside the gym.
Bigger Leaner And More Bearded Than Ever
Yep, I have a beard - why? I ran out of razors one day then forgot to buy them next 2 times I went to the supermarket and decided to grow it to get some new photos as I believe it gives my face and demeanor a totaly different aspect...

Are egg whites good for you? Well it depends upon what you do with them and how many you take.
Cooked egg whites are high in protein, have next to zero fat and no carbohydrates so they are good for athletes, those on a fat loss diet and those watching what they eat for health. Cooked egg whites are not bad for you in any way. As long as they are part of a balanced diet then cooked egg whites are a good addition for many people, I myself eat 10 to 20 egg whites a day for the protein, for muscle building.
Are raw egg whites good for you is a completely different question....

Day after day I see guys in the gym training too heavy, with weights they can barely lift. I'd be very surprised to see them complete even a single good rep with the weight they have chosen.
Yet they pump out set after set of swinging body movements that stressed the hips, back and shoulder tendons more than the muscle they are supposed to be exercising.
On some days you might see me doing the same.... why?

There are many Strength and Weight training for women programs available on the internet and most, if not all, I say are just junk made to try to sell something to women who are likely to know less about training and supplements than men are.
Now the reality for a strenght or weight training for women routine is that there will not be too much difference from a man's routine who is looking for the same end goals....

Cooking Eggs many a bodybuilders morning ritual, but funnily enough there are those out there who do not know the first thing about cooking eggs. Don't laugh, we were all there at one time.
I still remember clearly a school weekend when about 10 of us aspiring bodybuilders had gathered at a friends place, self serve egg sandwiches were todays menu. After we had all eaten one fellow made his way slowly into the kitchen only to return 5 minutes later empty handed and one question "How do you cook eggs"
This cooking eggs article is written for those other young guys out there taking their first steps towards cooking for themselves....

Bodybuilding workout routines - none of them are going to be particularly magic yet I see people scurrying and reading all over the internet searching for some sort of workout routine holy grail, and in the process using some absolutely hairball bodybuilding workout routines.
After doing a quick search and read online of a few of the top search returns for the phrases "workout routine", "workout routines" and "bodybuilding workout" I was shocked to find some absolute garbage written as bodybuilding workout routines for beginners.
IF you were unfortunate enough to follow some of the bodybuilding workout routines suggested on other sites it would not take long and you would label yourself a hardgainer....

These photos were taken in China during the filming of True Legend at the local gym.
The camera was my trust Nokia N95 which does not take good indoor photos and the pics are also a bit blurry as I got a local guy to take a couple dozen photos in a fast sequence and these were the best pics.
Finally Looking Like A 7 Foot Bodybuilder
Big Don (who is a professional movie animator) helped clean up the pics as best he could for me so here they are...

On my recent trip back to Australia for a week I noticed a few things that seem completely out of whack compared to my current life in Asia.
The constant negative fear mongering news was one thing, but the other even more scary thing was the modern western diet, even those who think they are eating healthily - it's enough to make a healthy person sick....

It has come to my attention....
.... as in my knee was twice it's normal size after months of pain...
...that I have torn the outer meniscus in my left knee.
The Meniscus is the fluid sac that provides cushioning in your knee joint, whilst wrestling 'The Lebo' in Australia he landed on my knee and there was a loud POP, he instantly pulled his weight off me and whispered "I heard your knee pop, are you alright?"...

After months of not putting any bodybuilding photos up online I have now pulled my finger out and gotten a few new photos taken today.
First up I was hesitant to put up bodybuilding photos at this point as I have lost a lot of weight over the last 3.5 months due to travel and work commitments and then partying over Christmas and New Years followed by a very recent very low calorie cleansing diet...

Half Reps is the technique of doing a push or pulling exercise in the gym but only using 1/2 the total movement distance. The half rep technique can be done for a variety of reasons, mostly the wrong reasons.
A rep (short for repitition) means a full range of movement with a weighted object, like a barbell or dumbbell. For instance a full rep on the Bench Press would mean moving the weight from full arm extension down until the bar touches your chest (ie cannot go any further) then back up to full arm extension.
Benchpress Full Rep
Half Reps are an advanced technique that all beginners should stear clear of, unless they want a slap in the back of the head from me... why?....

"How can I gain weight" - the eternal question for teenage boys, footballers and beginning bodybuilders. Also the question that took me from a skinny 70kg long distance runner to todays weight of over 140kg - more than doubling my lean body weight.
21 years ago I started to ask how do I gain weight in earnest, studying every bit of archaic knowledge, the current state of professional nutrition advice and every bit of hearsay we could get our ears around. In the end we decided to follow these following steps.
In 3 months I gained 20kg of weight, mostly muscle!
