Newspapers, Popular Magazines, Fiction - Stop Wasting Your Time

Stop wasting time reading the latest news, the latest gossip magazines, the latest... the latest.... the latest..... they are wasting your life!

“If the news is bad enough they’ll come and get you” - Big Jim (Amway Speaker)

Why read about everyone elses life and try to live vicariously through everyone else, you don't have that much time to waste, you are going to die sooner than you think - go live your own life...

So many people read the papers and social magazines like an addiction, it is almost as bad as TV. My question is why do they read them?

There is no benefit they just waste your time for no (or very little) positive return. In fact that time could be better spent doing other things - like chasing your life goals or fulfilling your life purpose, or doing something you really enjoy.

Many people read the “News” to keep “informed” - informed of what? Everything bad that is happening in the world? Don’t worry about the train crash in India, or the flooding in Asia, it does not affect you and more importantly you cannot do anything about it by reading and worrying.

Send some money or volunteer if you really care about it.

The media only reports bad and horrifying things anyway, they rarely report good news - don't believe me? Watch the nightly news and keep a tally of all the good stories vs all the bad stories. It'll be 100 bad to 1 good.  Filling your head full of bad things is even wworse than wasting your time

The quote from the Amway Speaker was in response to people saying they don’t have enough time in the day to build their Amway business and chase their dreams and this is true. The only bad news you need to know about is when the police are knocking on your front door.

It comes down to the individual - what is more important to you reading about Tom Cruises life (or the polished ready for consumption version put out by the tabloids) or getting out and living your own life.

Maybe Tom’s life is more exciting than yours. Perfect. That is great. There is a goal right there. Your life is not exciting enough for you. Now we need to ask the right question to get the right answer, something positive and that will provide a useful answer. “What can I do to make my life more exciting?”. Think about it. Make it an affirmation statement

This is simple business, just cut out those time wasting events in your life, for everything you do just ask yourself is this going to get me closer to my goals. If so then keep going. If not then step back and re-evaluate your behaviour.

As The Man said, if the news is bad enough that you have to worry about it then your friends, family, government or police will come and let you know besides that it doesn’t really matter so get on with your life.
