Following the success of Bangkok Adrenaline , I am currently looking for interested movie investors for a new action movie script that I have written. Following is the final synopsis of the "Madness" (working title) movie
script, it is a basic action script, some stuff added to make the trailer look
cool, it is a basic genre plot though with a twist.
Basically it is a revamped 80's action script ex-mercenary settles down,
family get killed, goes on a rampage, almost beaten then kills the bad
guy, some comedic relief with a surprise ending to make it (hopefully)
memorable for a straight to DVD movie. For more details on why this format was chosen read on...
First off I have to say movies are not primarily written for the audience, they are written, well the ones made into movies are written to make money for the investors. Making movies is not art, it is business.
As such what matters is if the movie can sell to the regional distributors, how quickly it can sell, and can it sell for more than it was made for. In this case this movie is designed to be shot on a very small budget without sacrificing quality, with a standard formulaic story and format that is well known in the action genre making it easy to recognise and to put a price on by regional buyers, this translates to an easy sell for the Investor/Producer which means a quick turn around and with the low shooting costs of Asia means a quick profitable return on and of investment. So here is a pretty much standard formula 80's style action genre movie that should keep audiences enthralled with the gory '300' style action and hopefully gain some serious reputation through character acting and plot twists that are unusual. Without further ado here is the full synopsis
Film Synopsis: “Madness”

Breakdown:
Film starts with an ancient battle scene, one tall powerful Persian soldier, Darius, is laying waste to enemy soldiers at all sides, blood and guts spray everywhere and the bodies pile up. Narration over an animated map shows the progress of the expansion of the Persian Empire under Cyrus the Great. The animated expansion is inter cut with short sharp killing blows from Darius to a variety of enemy soldiers at each of the major battles. After a major battle far to the east we find a fellow Persian commander, Smerdis, has been torturing and killing the enemies women and children. Darius objects to this and with weapons drawn faces off against Smerdis. Shahanshah (King of Kings) Cyrus condones the activity saying that if Darius has claim to these slaves then to take it up in the Persian court. Darius in disgust leaves the Great Host to travel South East to find untouched new lands to settle in.
And so it came to be that the Darius came across a fertile land, where crops could grow 3 times a year and there was never a shortage of water or jungle foods. Cut shots of Chang Mai (Thailand) (Rainforest, waterfalls, exotic animals, wild fruits) where Darius settled. An idyllic setting.
Shots of Darius and Yarenda, his stunningly beautiful brown skinned Asian wife working on their farm. Various scenes setting the mood, some muscle shots, an easy life of work and play, the Wife gets pregnant and a baby boy is born. Happiness.
Darius and Yarenda are taking a break from ploughing the fields with a baby elephant (or water buffalo). Wife is serving lunch and drink, with Baby on her back. The Village Elder rushes in excited and tells of an approaching army marching from the North. Darius tells him not to worry as they could have no interest in a simple small farming community, and besides it was not worth getting mixed up in politics, just hide your valuables and present the army with a gift of food and alcohol to appease them and appear to support them. It does not matter to us who controls the region. He finishes by saying “My days of war and conquest are over....”
Darius packs to go and trade with the neighbouring village. When he arrives we see him trading with an old friend, sharing food, laughing and joking. Interspersed with this is cut shots of the enemy army peacefully entering Darius' village and then attacking. As we see Darius playing with children we have cut shots of women and children being massacred at his own village.
At Yarenda's feet lay dead soldiers, with a special move she defeats another as the Northern King looks on. The Northern King then approaches Yarenda and kills her and the baby through trickery.
Darius sets out on his way home. Coming to a bend in the heavily tree lined road he rounds it to see a plume of smoke rising from where his village should be. He runs towards it.
Arriving at his village he sees destruction, huts burned out or still on fire, dead villagers. He spots the dying Village Elder who talks of the treacherous attack. As the Village Elder dies he tells that the army came to sacrifice the children to the Black Spirits and points towards a heavy wooden table carved with strange runes. A look of fear and concern spreads across Darius' face. He races off past the Black Magic Alter and the dead children towards his farm to find his wife and baby dead.
Darius close up: Grief enters his eyes, followed by despair which transforms into anger, like something inside broke he snaps into wild rage. Whispered thoughts go through his head. He grabs his old battle gear and sets out after the invading army.
That night he is beset by nightmares of his dead family, upon waking with a start we see him start to lose his sanity, tears streak his face and convulsions wrack his body until all that is left is a wild fire in his eyes and one thought in mind.... “Blood Payment”
Darius becomes a one man suicidal killing machine, at first silently taking out scouts and sentries at night and by laying man traps as he follows the army over several days back to their base. A six man Elite Scout group is sent out by the Northern King to kill Darius. With the hunter turned to the hunted Darius resorts to cunning to defeat the six man team from whom he learns that the Northern King is none other than his old enemy Smerdis.
Having arrived back at their Army base Smerdis thinks they are safe, how wrong. With comedic trickery Darius enters the army base and goes on a one man berserker destruction mission – all the time making a beeline straight to Smerdis at the Command Centre, killing all in his path. His attack is methodical, almost mechanical as he sustains multiple small wounds. A heavily armoured “Knight” steps forward to protect Smerdis after a brief battle Darius beats his helmeted head to a bloody pulp with a hammer using a trick that Smerdis recognises as the same Yarenda used to kill a soldier.
Darius steps forward so his face is lit up, Smerdis is unnerved as he recognises his old foe. Calling on the Black Magician to help he tries to maintain a facade of calm. The Black magician summons a Demon to tower over even the tall Darius. Not long into the battle Darius discovers he is out powered and the Demon is invulnerable to his sword attacks with multiple mortal death dealing tactics not working. Things look grim for our now unarmed hero until a basic but surprise move allows him to defeat the Demon in a believable yet juxtaposed comedic end to this supernatural beast.
With only a long knife in hand Darius bloody, battered and weakened now approaches Smerdis and his one remaining Bodyguard, a man with bodybuilder proportions and a menacing two handed sword. Smerdis sacrifices the life of his bodyguard to impale Darius, undeterred and madness in his eyes Darius tells Smerdis that he won't die until he extracts his blood debt and doing so impales Smerdis, drags him out to the assorted soldiery watching from below and decisively kills Smerdis to then stumble back into the throne room and collapse on the throne...
With the villain dead and the hero triumphant though mortally wounded this is one satisfying standard ending.... but it's not quite the end...
Investors Notes:The proposed budget is a meagre US$1 - $2 million with filming and post production done in Thailand or equally skilled/inexpensive location. A full synopsis and a full draft of the script are available to serious parties. Please contact Conan Stevens via the email webform here .
