Today I recieved an email from Larry, and Larry seems to have a bit of a chip on his shoulder, in fact Larry may not like me. Here is his email:
I've been to IMDB and you've been in 3 films. Have you starred in any Thai films? Have you made any films? You might as well make porn.
Yes, Larry is another fan that has decided to help me out by giving me an article to write...
Now lets analyse Larry's email. "I've been the the IMDB and you've been in 3 films".
Larry seems to think that the IMDB website is all powerful, and similar to God, it possesses all movie knowledge and it is infallible. Surprise awakening for you Larry - the IMDB is not an extension of God, it has mistakes and omissions. More importantly if you are going to use a tool then it would pay to learn how to use it properly - the IMDB lists credits that can be verified in the end credits of the movie, that means that the movie must be released before it cna be verified by the IMDB. This means that movies that have been shot and edited but are awaiting an appropriate release date do not show in the IMDB.
Additionally I have a ton of photos, footage and articles on my site that clearly shows I have been in more than 3 movies.
The next two sentances can be easily answered by pointing Larry to his favourite optical enhancement device (contact lenses, bi-focals, reading glasses, etc) and then actually looking at the front page of my website, therein the link BIOGRAPHY would answer all the questions and advice he has posed.
9 cinema release movies are listed, Thai movies are listed as being Thai, though I personally have not 'made any films' as I am not a movie Producer at this stage of my career, but I was involved with the making of Bangkok Adrenaline at a very early stage, I was involved with the negotiations for sponsorship with large international companies and with Thai investors - oh yes and of course I did write the Bangkok Adrenaline movie script so you could sort of say that I have made a film.
Also at the bottom of hte page it says I do not do nude work - that would sort of rule out doing porn movies wouldn't it Larry?
Also it might surprise Larry to find at the top of every page on my site that it clearly states that I have done 9 feature length movies... wonder how he missed that one?
I might as well make porn, Larry's final advice to me. Should I take Larry's advice? Let see if he meets any of the criteria that I use to judge peoples advice before I even consider what they are advising me to do;
- Is he an acknowledged expert? No
- Is his life or career something that I would like to emulate? Probably not
- Does he seem to have a well rounded knowledge of the field? No
- Does he seem to have my best interests at heart? No
- Has he supported any arguments/advice with solid reasoning and/or facts? No
- Has he researched at all? No
- Can he read? Barely
- Can he navigate a website? No
- Would I trust him to guide my future career? F*ck that
So it seems Larry's advice will not be heeded and he can go back to fantasizing about whatever simple minds fantasize about.

* UPDATE: Larry has emailed me back several times now and we have had a reasonable conversation, though he is keen on pushing the merits of me doing these sorts of movies and I am not really interested. But I did have to give him the benefit here as he is intelligent and educated, and can carry on a debate without getting emotional.
** UPDATE: Larry is a complete loser. Trying to make himself out ot be some big shot and get me to grovel in the hopes that he will give me some work. Guess what? I don't need to grovel in life for anything... it is completely against my principles and my personal moral code, just like doing porn movies is.
