Whirlwind Romance Fails

Tuesday, 06 July 2010

As you can tell I have not posted much for the last month, and a little bit before. This was due to a number of factors - the main one being a whirlwind romance that "seemed too perfect to be true" - my own words on about the third day....

Conan Saves A Life?

I went out to have a few beers with a mate over from Australia the other night, just as we were leaving there was quite a commotion amongst the staff.

One looked to me desperately and asked me to come help...

New Paperback Book From Conan Coming Soon

Friday, 30 April 2010

That's right. I have been secretly working away on a new book that I intend to self publish in both hardcopy (that will also be available from Amazon.com) and in eBooks versions in several formats for Kindles, iPhone, iPad and Smart Phones... and of course your computer.

It's a work of non-fiction that could benefit a majority of regular readers of my website whilst remaining entertaining through previously unwritten stories and anecdotes from my own life.

I am so sure you'll like the book that there's even a 100% money back guarantee offered.

So about the book....

Advantages Of Being Tall (Height)

Wednesday, 14 April 2010

Unlike other stupid articles discussing the advantages of being tall, like being able to reach high places, taking longer strides and other retarded crap I am going to give you 1st hand experience of why being tall is a huge advantage in all areas of your life.

Believe me if you are tall, you better start looking at it as your greatest blessing, because as I am about to show you, it is....

How To Fall Off A Moving Motorbike With Conan

Another Christmas Mockery Over And Done With

Sunday, 27 December 2009

And no I am not talking about the Westernised commercial perversion that sees 2 months of Christmas advertising and rubbish Christmas carols played in every commercial center and shop in a non-stop mind numbing repeating loop, designed to try to make you feel guilty enough to spend all your savings proving that you love your family and friends by putting yourself in credit card debt up to the neck...

Nihow, I'm In China Again

Monday, 29 December 2008

I'm in China again, and that can only mean one thing - Yes I am filming again - FINALLY!

It's been a long time since I worked in a large part, somewhat surprisingly that was in Chandni Chowk To China, where we were filming, somewhat not unsurprisingly in China for a time.

At the moment I am not sure how much I can reveal about the movie so I won't write too much today, and I'll find out how much I am allowed to reveal tomorrow - but I am sure I can for now say I am working with a Hong Kong legend, if not THE Hong Kong legend in the film industry.

Oh yeah, Nihow is Mandarin (Chinese mainland)  for hello and it is bloody cold here, -9C to 2C (15F to 32F)

UPDATE: I am working with some ex-WWE Pro Wrestlers, some of the same guys as were in the Som Tam movie, and the Director is Yuan Woo Ping, the biggest name in Hong Kong stunts.

Oh Yeah, Happy Christmas And All That

Wednesday, 24 December 2008

Just realised it is Christmas today - already, just goes to show how much of an event it is for me here in Asia.

Since all the Western Malls and Shopping centres have been playing annoying as heck crappy Christmas carols for the last two months now (something I am very glad to miss out on), here is an Interesting Christmas song from Jon Lajoie, a Canadian comedian making a bit of a name for himself on Youtube...

Still Here

Wednesday, 10 December 2008

I'm still here, still alive but not too much happening due to the political situation in Thailand at the moment, for those not watching the current news or reading this in the future there has been an ongoing 92 day sit in at parliment house and the national airports taken over by the P.A.D. wealth backed protestors.

The fallout of this is the country came to the brink of civil war (again) and the national economy has been destroyed as tourism plummets to an all time low, many, many hotels, bars and other tourist based industries will go to the wall in the coming months - it will be a national disaster, bad times are ahead for sure.

But for me personally what does it all mean....

Is Thailand Safe To Travel In Now

Friday, 21 November 2008

TROUBLE BREWING IN BANGKOK

There is something in the air in Bangkok, people are nervous, tourist high season did not arrive, Police are everywhere and searching many people, Army helicopters can been seen flying over the city regularly.

First off we'll start with the massive lack of tourists and the tourist dollars that drive an official 6% of the Thai Gross Domestic Product - GDP (total earnings for a country). First off 6%? What a complete load of baloney...

Butt Kissers

Wednesday, 05 November 2008

(Or the other reason Actors are 'snobbish')

Today received an email from a reader of my site claiming that he loved all the movies I starred in....

"what f'n movies" was my first thought, I have not starred in any movies yet, I have acted in a few, some decent roles but no starring roles (yet). Then I realised that this guy is in a country that will have had the DVD release of maybe 1 movie that I have worked on in Thailand....

WTF? then....

UK MENSA Magazine Cover Story

Saturday, 13 September 2008

My first cover story since Drum Media in Sydney in 1998.

Pretty exciting for me, even though the Australian media dismisses me as a nobody and of little to no interest to the Australian audience as I am not on Australian TV, even though I cannot get an interview or article in Australia and no PR agent wants to represent me, those that I contacted and spoke to were disdainful and some where even somewhat condescending to me, when even some unnamed (you know who you are) management at the Sydney Dance Company outright said I was not of interest to the media....

Here I am Front cover and a 3 page internal story in a magazine that has a 24,000 member distribution....

Big, Handsome, Successful And Intelligent

Saturday, 13 September 2008

No, not me.... Dolph Lundgren.

I found a quote a few days ago after watching a 'recent' Dolph Lundgren movie shot in China, called Diamond Dogs, after my own movie experience in China and hearing some behind the scenes information on what happened at the movie set I just had to watch the movie and see how it came out.

Not a particularly inspiring movie, very standard storyline, something I would have loved as a wannabe macho 14 year old boy struggling with hormonal changes and a new identity caused by this. Judging by what I heard the budget to be and the money they would have received from sales of distribution rights my guess is that the movie was a success by the only real measure producers and investors are interested in - financial.

This got me wondering about Dolph Lundgren's early career and how he got into movies in the first place....

Alive And Well

Sunday, 16 March 2008

Had a few emails recently as my last post was about me being sick - just a quick update for now:

  1. I got better then promptly drank too much and got sick again :)
  2. Auditioned for and passed for a Warner Brothers movie
  3. Shot 1 week already on same Warner Bros movie
  4. Auditioned for and got A Thai TVC
  5. Shot the same TVC and got my first partial body burn
  6. Went to Phuket/Krabi to work on a stun show with Dan O'Neil
  7. Mangaged to party again, without getting sick this time.
I think that is about it for the last  3 weeks, though I am sure i have done more it eludes e at present.

More in depth articles and video takes coming in the next couple of days.

Nokia N95 8GB Vs Pentium PC

Wednesday, 30 January 2008

The Nokia N95 "It's what computers have become"

Last week before my trip to Myanmar I upgraded from my Nokia N70 (it was starting to have a few problems) to a new Nokia N95 8GB. I spent 9 hours online reading the manuals, and technology forums, transferring all my old files and setting the Nokia N95 8GB up to exactly how I wanted it.

To give a brief review would be to say that the Nokia N95 advertising  slogan is 100% correct, this item is not a phone, though it does that too, it is better than a complete Pentium 2 PC in your pocket....

What To Pack When Travelling Internationally

Monday, 07 January 2008

20 Kgs of luggage allowance and months away from home - what do you pack when travelling?

Often I have seen friends packing way too much stuff in their bags when they are only travelling for 2 weeks . They bring a full backpack, a travel pack and some carry on luggage AND their laptop.... everything but the kitchen sink - just in case they "need" it.

That is too much to pack when travelling, especially when travelling to Thailand or anywhere in SE Asia. Carrying around a whole pile of crap that you do not need or use is a sure way to annoy the heck out of you when travelling, especially if you plan on getting around and seeing the country you travel to.

Here's what to pack when travelling international, or more specifically what I pack...

New Apartment And Internet

Saturday, 29 December 2007

I have just gotten ADSL connected at my new apartment - that means regular Internet access for me and more updates coming regularly for you.... AND more importantly more videos with a new video section planned - "Cooking With Conan"

Well everyone else has a cooking show, including the new Thai Prime Minister, so why not me?

But not just yet as tomorrow I go to Pattaya with a few friends to see the new year in.

Back In Bangkok - What Next?

Sunday, 16 December 2007

I just spent 5 weeks in Sydney, Australia with Sydney Dance Company, followed by 2 weeks in Bangkok while finalising details before I went for 2 weeks to Mumbai, India then to Brisbane, Australia for 2 weeks to finish my contract with SDC.

So all in all I have been away for 11 weeks, add into that the month living out of a suitacase at a girlfriends place before I left (I vacated my apartment) and it is just about 4 months living out of a suitcase.

So what have been the effects and what am I going to do next?

Australia Oct 2007

Wednesday, 07 November 2007

I spent Oct 2007 in Australia working on the return season of Sydney Dance Company's production "Berlin", surprisingly the day that I landed in Sydney it was 2 years and 1 day since I left Australia (meaning that it was 2 years to the day that I had been based in Thailand).

What had changed? How much had I changed? Did I still enjoy Australia? Would I have fun or would I slowly go insane in a non-utopian police state?

Fear Of Heights

Sunday, 14 October 2007

Are you scared of heights? Have a fear of heights? Fear of falling? Are you an Acrophobic?

Funnily enough for being extremely tall I have always had a fear of heights, having the safety railings at knee height did not help matters either. As a child I would have nightmares that I was falling, I would wake up in a cold sweat many nights with the same falling dream.

Fear Of Heights? Are You Scared?

So in my usual style I had to confront this fear of heights, and beat this weakness that may cause me troubles in my future stunt/acting career....

Conan Returns To Australia

Tuesday, 25 September 2007

After a 2 year absense I have returned to Australia, and will be here for hte next five weeks. At the moment I do not have regular Internet access but will do next week so look for a pile of updates then.

As an interesting note since I have been here (36 hours) I have had interest shown by casting agents for a popular TV show and a Warner Brothers movie - these opportunities would not have arisen if I had not been here at exactly this time.

So it appears that I may even be spending more time in Australia than originally planned.
