When you ask for Vodka and Orange inThailand from a non-professional bartender be very specific with the explaination of which vodka and orange you specifically want.

Or you could be sitting here very dissatisfied like I am right now... 

Sipping a Vodka and Fanta (Mirinda)(orange soda pop) which I can assure you is not the best combination. 

To ask for it in Thai you will need to say wodka la nam som (yes just like the Europeans they mix up thier w's and v's) which will get you a vodka and orange juice.

You have to remember that  these people drink local whiskeys (rum), rice wine, and beer mainly. They just do not know that vodka should be served with orange juice and not a soda pop. This extends to many other facets of life here too so don't be surprised when they do something that would be considered brainless in the West.
