Luckily I have arrived in Australia just at the time they are looking for new Gladiators for the Australian Gladiators TV show - a regional version of the popular American TV series.
Australian Gladiators are casting and having auditions soon and I have arrived just at the right time, in fact the perfect time to get into the talent pool for consideration.
Perfect time? Yes, in a story that is too unreal to be made up...
Walking on the way to work with the Sydney Dance Company on my first day I got a little lost and took the long way - or in this case the right way.
Walking along a late model car pulls up with a group of large guys in business suits - the window winds down and one calls out "Conan you big poof!"
Marty, it had to be. Martin owns/directs several security companies and I used to do some work for him "cameo appearances" as he put it back in the days when I first arrived in Sydney.
As we are both on our way to work with limited time we swap phone numbers.
30 minutes later when I arrive at Sydney Dance Co Martin comes down to see me (his office is right next door coincidentaly) "You're not going to believe this" were the first words out of his mouth.
Nathan, my mate who works with Channel 7 TV called as I walked into the office - he was asking for big guys who might be suitable for the Australian Gladiators TV show casting. Martin laughed, "If you had asked me at any other time I would have said no, but it just so happens that I ran into Conan, a friend just back from overseas this morning who would be perfect for the role"
And so I spoke with Nathan on the phone and then emailed off my Biog and some recent photos and am now waiting the next step.
Coincidence?
