This week my Agent was emailed - a BIG movie studio is filming a movie and they would like to consider me for a role.
Seeing the working title I can see why they want to look at me for a part....
Oh yeah, and there might be a new movie role in a Hindi movie too...
I don't think it would be giving anything away to say the movie, if done how I think it should be, will be a violent action movie set in period where technology is pretty much non-existant. Yes, so hand to hand fighting - now you can see why I would think this is a role that I would be suited for.
My agent has passed my showreel link and Biography details onto the studio and now I get to wait and see.
The next step would be for the studio to provide a small script for me to shoot an in character casting video and send it to the studios, or if they are very interested in me they'd fly me over to the US to do a casting there.
At the moment it is the American Film Market, so everyone will have all their time consumed looking after that. The AFM is where most movies are bought and sold for the American market and thus is a very important event for most film makers.
Also, just yesterday, a Bangkok based friend contacted me regarding another Hindi movie that is supposed to be filming in Thailand shortly. I was asked for my Biography and photos. Instead I sent my Biog and a link to my showreel, asking him to draw attention to the two time markers where I play in the major Hindi movies - Drona where I fight Abishek Bachchan and Chandni Chowk To China in which I fight Akshay Kumar.
Additionally I was asked to go up to Bangkok to meet the Director. The number of people that come to Bangkok to "film" here and then you never hear from them again is astounding. Obviously there are other locations and they are scouting, maybe they don't have full funding, there are many reasons why they don't come back. But I won't be wasting my time again going to visit some 'film maker' who is not 100% serious.
So I asked professional questions. What is the role, how many days of filming, approximately when will it be filming, what is the film budget, any speaking or stunt work required?
In short is the role something that I would be interested in doing at this stage of my career. Working as a 2 or 3 day stuntman in a low, low budget movie is most definitely not in my best interests.
If the Director is interested in meeting me then I will ask for a small fee to cover my taxi and lunch expenses. If he is not willing to pay this then he is not a serious player and is most definitely not someone I would wish to work with.
So for now, I'll add these two movies to the list of other movies that might shoot next year that might cast me in a role that might actually get made and sold and distributed.
So many if's in this industry....
