David Carradine Dies In Bangkok - "Suicide" Say Police

Thursday, 04 June 2009

David Carradine, star of the age old TV series Kung Fu, was today found dead in his Bangkok hotel room, several stories are already making the rounds in the media, hopefully the media will settle on onenon-conflicting story to make the "suicide" ruling more believable.

David has 222 acting credits to his name on his IMDB page, 14 movies for 2009 alone! This is how I personally met David - in Beijing onset during the filming of the True Legend movie, in fact we had a full day of filming together, as he played my boss....

I worked with David Carradine for just one day but I worked with him closely that day, having movie dialogue with him and some good emotional exchanges on camera. Off camera we had a bit of a chat too, he was friendly, devoid of ego, and for me a bit of a thrill working with one of my childhood heroes.

David Carradine was obviously of an older age but everyone onset was truly surprised to find out his real age. Even at 72 he was lively and full of energy, his eyes showed the power within, bright and focused. He seemed to be in very good health. Looking at him and his mobility I would guess that he had a daily exercise regime that he held to, and a good diet.

I remember staying up late nights when I was a schoolboy to watch Kung Fu, I would guess that watching this program helped install good social values in many of todays men, I would say David Carradine gave more to this world as an 'entertainer' than could easily be reckoned.

This is very sad news, made even worse by the standard blanket cover of 'suicide' before a proper investigation could be completed, personally I would like to see the US Embassy undertake it's own investigation. Too many foreigners mysteriously commit suicide in Bangkok (and Pattaya!), I would like to see at least one looked into properly, and a high profile case would be ideal.

This is also bad news for Thailands ailing tourist economy, as Thailand yet again manages to make International headlines, yet again in a negative light.

I am sorry to hear this news as I am now working in the same circles as legends like David Carradine and was looking forward to meeting and working with him again and having more time to chat with him on a personal level.

My condolences to David Carradine's family, this truly is a shame.
