Last week between long night shoots of Bangkok Adrenaline, I managed to slip in a few days as well to film in Panakorn Productions movie Hannuman. What this movie has to do with the monkey god Hannuman I have no idea - I did not recieve a script and very little instruction.

Turning up at the movie set I could instantly see something had gone terribly wrong - it looked like a bad gay comedy, then I realised wardrobe had free reign in assigning costumes.... brilliant.... ladyboys (cross dressers) in charge of dressing up a bunch of tough guys....

WTF were they thinking???

The rest of the filming was almost as unorganised.... though maybe it just seemed that way to us as nobody really told us what the scenes were or what we were supposed to be doing.

Fights were filmed as the guys were working out some on the spot choreography, no rehearsals and no planning. They just pulled up 2 guys at random and said "ACTION" and the guys had to work out a fight quickly then perform for about 5 minutes of continual action with those simple commands. No wonder the foreigners often look like idiots in Asian movies.

OK,Rehearsal... We Film Rehearsal OK?

They were very good at keeping us topped up with food and water, which was essential as it was  about 40 degrees (104 fahr) outside and we were filming in a large tin shed with heaps of additional, hot, stage lights.

Hot Stage Lights Blaze Down Upon The Cheering Crowd

Basically my job with 6 other guys was to fight the hero after he killed our boss, with wires attached he jumped up somersaulted, landed throwing kicks and punches. The hero is winning the battle until I step in and block him, throw in several knees to the side abdomen and pick him up for a slam. We finish beating on him and I finish by throwing him across the room.

Dirty Sweaty Hot Fighters

I am glad I wasn't one of the Sumo guys rolling around on the extremely dirty floor - we were filming in a disused factory. HMmmm...   hot sweaty and dirty all day - my favourite

Here is my costume, wonderfuly plain and boring compared to the fluro coloured leotards and studded leather g-strings of the others.

But then that is one of the benefits of being in a main role, I said no, then No, then NO to all the horrible gay nightmare that were to be my costumes if the katoeys had their way.
